Back in the early 1980s, two teenagers from Limassol, DJ Marios and DJ Chris, decided they’d had enough of the dull local stations that weren’t playing the music everyone wanted to hear. So, they built their own pirate radio station, and Radio Turbo 21 was born! DJ Marios, the electronics genius of the pair, put together a homemade transmitter powered by the legendary 6146B vacuum tube. From a small storage shed at his home, Radio Turbo21 hit the FM airwaves and reached listeners all across Limassol. Playing the pop and rock hits of the time, the station quickly became a favorite, especially among teenagers. Fans sent in dedications by phone or even slipped handwritten notes to the DJs, making Radio Turbo21 not just a station, but a community. And now… Radio Turbo21 is back, streaming online for its old listeners and for a whole new generation to enjoy!
