Lake Effect Radio is an internet streaming broadcast station owned and operated by Lakeland Community College. With the studio located on the Lakeland main campus in Kirtland, Ohio, Lake Effect Radio operates on a non-stop schedule with an effective radius all over the world.
Among these is delivering a unique and diverse radio programming that serves the college, community interests and tastes. Lake Effect Radio attempts to meet this goal by offering a variety mix of music, sports, informational, and public service programming that is not found anywhere on the dial or internet.
Another of the station’s key functions is to provide an opportunity for students to gain real-world experience, networking in an ongoing media production, events and delivery process. All day to day management and operations are performed by student managers and directors voted by their peers, with the help of the DJ staff.
The station is operated under the students of Lakeland Community College, is overseen by the Department of Student Engagement and Leadership and two faculty advisers, and reflects the College’s belief that the best way for students to learn is by doing and being involved.
