The station started in 2009 and has been broadcasting online continously with occasional trial RSL broadcasts on FM. Awaaz Community Radio DAB broadcast for South Hampshire began in February 2016. The FM licence for Southampton and surrounding area was secured in 2016 and broadcasting on the FM dial will begin in early 2017.
