Radio Gurbaba FM is the first mother tongue radio station outside the capital with the slogan “Inclusive Radio, Common Voice”. Its main language is Tharu. Established in 2065 BS, this radio is located in Bansgadhi of Bardiya district in the mid-western region. This 100 watt capacity radio can be heard at 106.4 MHz. Looking at the number of Nepal, Tharu caste is in the fourth place. Linguistically, the Tharus are in third place. Bardia district is the largest Tharu speaking district in Nepal. There are more than 52 percent Tharu speakers. With this in mind, Tharu has been made the main language of Radio Gurbaba.
